In all of the hubbub of the start of school, meeting television and book characters and floods of near-Biblical proportions, I forgot to mention that Grasshopper has crossed another "first" off of his life-list: First Trip to the Dentist.
He did great. He was nervous at first, but the staff did a fabulous job of putting him at ease and by the time he got ready for x-rays, he was having an adventure. Since it's a pediatric practice, they know what they're doing with little ones. Also, the dentist provided a card for the front of the refrigerator with his home phone number on it in case we ever have an after-hours dental emergency. How amazing is that?
I can report that there were no cavities, and my son prefers the Banana Split fluoride foam to the Strawberry Shortcake variety. Oh, and a new Lightning McQueen toothbrush makes even sitting still for x-rays worthwhile.
This is totally not even an *almost* Wordless Wednesday post. Oh well.

So sweet (probaby not the right word to use when talking about a dentist visit, huh?)! I would behave better for my x-rays if I got a cool toothbrush, too. Banana split flouride...maybe I should go to a pediatric dentist. I have to make an appt for Bug and I'm dreading it...
Is your house still dry?
The look of fear in his face says it all. I wouldn't be surprised if I look the same and I've been going for 30+ years.
What a trooper!
We've had pretty positive dental experiences thus far as well. We never made a big deal out of it, so they don't make a big deal out of it.
Yay! to no cavities! They let us know when HRH was four that he'd end up with braces. Awesome.
That's great, and very important to have a positive experience. One of my kids hates to go, and it's quite the struggle to get him to go in for a filling (major negotiations)-glad it went well.
We go to a pediatric dentist, too. It's a longish drive but worth it. Still haven't gotten around to taking J for her first visit.
