So on Tuesday when I dropped Grasshopper off during morning carpool the teacher getting him out of the car said, "Guess what Grasshopper? Today we get a new president!"
I was surprised by this. I mean, I was excited too, especially for my little guy, but discussing presidential inaugurations with 2 year olds was certainly out of my league.
So that afternoon, on the ride home, I asked him, "So did you talk about the president at school today?"
"Yes!"
Wow, I'm thinking to myself, these teachers are GOOD.
"So you talked about the president?"
I really needed to hear this twice to believe it.
"Yes! Presents! I love presents!"
Pause.
"Where did Santa go?"

Hope grasshopper feels better soon, it's always a bit of a roller-coaster ride when our little ones get sick. I also caught up on some of your recent posts-so heartfelt and very well said.
Gremlin pretty much calls anyone on TV in a tie Barack Obama. It's a start. He watched some of the inauguration with me and I talked (a lot). Maybe some of it will sink in.
Ha ha ha! That's hilarious! Yeah, maybe a little much for a 2 year old. I was impressed that they talked alot about it in C's class and brought in a TV on the big day to watch a bit of it. Later on, when they were recapping and showed Aretha, C said, "Hey we watched that lady sing at school!"
OH MY GAWD. I just choked on my own spit from sudden laughter. You slay me.
Presents truly are all that matter to a kid. My 4 year-old told me that she likes Santa more than God because "that God just never brings anything!"
they're so funny!
My almost 3 year old loves the President. She's always picking his image out of newspaper photos, t-shirts, etc. But when we watched the inauguration instead of Mr. Rogers she was not pleased.
